I am a Christian struggling with the same issues. I feel I should be more prepared for the possible collapse of the grid. For my family's sake also.

However, Christ wants us to be in the world enough to evangelise it. How do we do this if we are waaaaay out in the boondocks on our self-sufficient farm? Currently I preach the gospel publicly on a regular basis, but I wonder how to continue to do so if I get off the grid...

Blessing in Jesus,

Newsflash. If an "XE goone" as you put it, aims a rifle at you, don't worry your pretty paranoid head. I promise you won't see it coming.

Hey buddy,
A drive way allert works well to let you know if some one is approaching on foot or by car. $20.00 from Harbor Freight. If you are serious though, you will have to concider 6-24-7. That is; 6 adults, 24 hours a day, 7days a week. That is the bare minimum for security according to John Moore who has a line sheet longer than the Amazon.
We live in the county, and that being the case, we are a soft target. If I get a hint that we could become victoms. I will move my family right out of this country without hesitation and say goodby to the stuff that I have collected over the years.
I have been selling a lot of tools and equipment that I can live without, raising capitol and investing in mobile assets just for this purpose. Remember Katrina and those that were high and dry. I just got news that oil rain is real and if I lived in the south, I would pack up and be gone in 48 hours! Not a coward, non emotional, just plain realistic. I don’t wish to see some Xe goone pointing his weapon at me or my family.
“M” in the James Bond movies, often said to James;”Allways have an escape plan and never let them see you bleed”. Very good advice indeed.
God bless and hurry! Things are going to get ugly.

Bernard,

Very true! However, as I stress in the article, putting too many resources in any one direction is not advised. In the internet forum world you would be called a whatever-tard. Guntard. Foodtard. Powertard. Gold/Silvertard.

Life is about balance. At your recommendation, I may try to write a basic food storage guide, time and site owner permitting.

I am very like minded with you, what intrigues me is how so many people can get caught up in their every day lives and ignore the possibilities that are all around us. We are living on an infrastructure that is politically, economically and culturally a house of cards. I feel that the attacks on 9-11 had a more profound effect than most of us realize. The government has been trying since the attack to stabilize our economy and I think they may have over-done it and that’s what led to the housing bubble. Anyway, I'd like to advertise my website www.findlakefront.com on your website. I specialize in remote lakefront property in a unique area of the US that is topographically protected from nuclear fall out, has a population equal to the Mojave Desert (one person every seven square miles!) and is over 200 miles away from a town with any substantial size. Of course the best part is the undiscovered beauty of this area and four distinct seasons that we have.

I have tried to involve my neighborhood in the 'self-reliance' concept but nobody seems to believe that a catastrophe of any kind, be it earthquake, storm, emp, solar flares, or even a breakdown in society can or will possibly affect them -- how short-sighted! I have offered to show them how to grow food - but I can't get past the political hawks in the neighborhood. So, I've just decided that we will do this on our own and with our one neighbor who is a like-thinker. Now, should something occur??? I have stocked up and would be happy to share with those senior citizens who are not capable of the hard work or financial strain of stocking the necessities. I hope I don't sound cold - I'm not. But I've tried to involve others - they just can't see past their noses and their politics!

Hello!

My husband and I are Christians and we started our preparedness several years ago when we observed the rip begin in the bubble. We remodeled our townhouse and sold it. My husband has been aware of our world since he was 8. We now have a 2005 Winnebago Vectra, a year and half worth of food and building. Looking at a solar generator, got involved in workaway.info and wwoofusa.org to barter with folks for room and board.

As far as hoarding food, there comes a time when it is time to brush the dust off your shoes, as Christ Jesus stated, and walk away. He understands that folks will not get it. You still have to get food for your family. Just think about the inflation that is coming. Food will be too expensive. Remember the flood, remember Sodom and Gomorrah. People will be warned and you continue to warn and you continue to prepare for yours and a very close circle of friends. I started reading a book called "Patriots" great book easy reading, great story line. I suggest it.

I would love to write for your blog.

on my blog there are some of our radio shows

some websites to consider
www.efoodsdirect.com great special right now buy 3 get 1 free. The price is going to go up. Buy now!!! We have ours in place and keep building on it.
www.solutionsfromscience.com layaway plan for the big solar generator and the eliminator and five acres of seeds with their protogrow.

When stocking up try to stay away from processed food, spend a bit more and get real food. Dehydrate, can, whatever. Beans, rice and a getaway plan. Get a motorhome or minivan with dc plugs so you can have a fridge/cooler maybe and have it stocked and ready to go. You have to choose the world or God. If you choose God then you know this is not your world, our time will come later. We will be needed to rebuild in the thousand year rein of our Lord. Learn how to rightly divide scripture and own a king james bible, not the new king james but the one the world hates. Be careful where you buy it I can give you a reference if you like.

God Speed and I do hope we can talk again. Call me anytime
480-209-6622 tread lightly as it is a Verizon account. Use this only when you cannot reach me on my MJ

I also have my magic jack 602-759-9030, leave a message and I will call you back.

Please note we have been working on this for several years

hope to hear from you

There are millions of us out here just like this. We're smart, successful (relatively) professionals. We attend PTO meetings, help w/ scouts, little league etc. We own guns and know how to use them. We recognize that food, power and water, will become scarce as a result of a myriad of many different potential chains of events; many of which become more and more likely with each passing day.

You can have all the gold in the world, but if I have more ammo than you, I am more likely to successfully defend myself.

@Meg Meg, start looking in places like health food stores for books on gardening and making your basic supplies-soap, etc-as well as homeopathic remedies for illness/injuries. Can also get books on building gravity fed well, solar energy, etc. It's all out there. I need to add to my collection as well.
God bless you!
