I’m not big into shotguns, however, everyone knows about the Mossberg 500′s proven track record. The Maverick 88 is very similar, and in many cases, interchanges accessories with the 500. One thing I did find was an 8 shot “security” version of the Maverick 88. Price listed was $220 over the net. In my opinion, that would be a top notch castle protection tool. For self defense of your person and your home a Maverick 88 in the 8 shot security version and a Taurus PT111 (an accurate and fairly inexpensive [$300] 9mm compact handgun) and you’re pretty well set.
