Radical Individualism

January 9, 2012

To see how far our mainstream political thought has drafted, look no further than Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorum and his comments on what he calls “radical individualism”.

They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down, keep our regulations low, and that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues. That is not how traditional conservatives view the world.

It’s pretty unbelievable that this guy is considered “conservative” these days. Unfortunately, the combination of ignorance and apathy in this country has made this mainstream political thought – where even the “small government” politicians want big government.

I do live in the woods, and I am building an entire life around the ability survive what is coming our way.

This is not an impossible goal. You can not only learn how to grow and can foods, you can learn to to identify wild foods that are very healthy to eat. You can learn herbal medicine. You can reload your own ammunition, and how to use weapons effectively, even to the extent of using empty handed combat. Need a solar behydrator? Build your own. Need a smoke house? I am building one now.

None of these things require new knowledge. All you have to do is learn what is already known.

This is one of the few times in your life that going backwards if going forwards.
